My work revolves around the metaphor of memory, layers of memory; some coherent, some fading.  I work with memories I have of places I have visited and then retrace, relive images and feelings of these places I have been.  With these ideas in mind I then create my own narrative and essence of these places in painting, print and mixed media.

I have involved a Venetian theme in much of my work as I retraced images and feelings of the city of Venice.  Presently I am considering memories of my recent trip to the island of Spinalonga which is just off the coast of Crete and is a former leper colony.  Again the Venetian theme encompasses these works as in the island’s past it has been invaded by the Venetians, who built fortifications there and then later left the island.
