Datganiad yr Arlunydd  •  Artist Statement

Mae fy ngwaith yn ymateb i le ac i'r broses o beintio ei hun. Dwi'n cael fy ysbrydoli gan lefydd penodol, lle mae 'na olion o bobl cynt, neu deimlad o'r gorffennol. Dwi'n gweithio'n wreddfol, gan ddefnyddio lle fel ffynhonnell ac yn adeiladu'r llun mewn haenau sy'n cael eu crafu a sgrafellu'n ôl er mwyn dangos beth sydd o danyn nhw.

Fy ancam yw mynegi fy nghariad at liw, patrwm a chreu marciau, ac dwi'n gweld y gwaith fel dathliad o le ac o beintio.

My work is a response to place and to the painting process itself. I am inspired by certain places where there are traces of earlier people, or a sense of the past. I work instinctively, using place as a source and building up the painting in many layers which are scratched into and scraped back to reveal what is underneath.

I aim to express my love of colour, pattern and mark making, and I see the work as a celebration of place and of painting.
